How the 1,000 points break down

Five scoring factors and one deduction. Language is worth 125 (scored per ability band), age 75, work experience 175 (including 100 for full Manitoba licensing), education 125, and adaptability 500. Factor 6 then subtracts up to 200 for work or study ties to another province. Adaptability being half the grid is the defining feature of this programme: it rewards people already connected to Manitoba.

Common questions

What is a good MPNP score?
Manitoba ranks the pool out of 1,000 and invites the highest scorers each draw, so there is no fixed pass mark. Because adaptability alone is worth 500, a qualifying Manitoba job offer or a close relative in the province moves your ranking more than anything else on the grid.
Why is the Manitoba connection factor worth so much?
The programme is designed to nominate people who will settle and stay. Factor 5 is capped at 500 — half the total — and ongoing Manitoba employment with a long-term offer reaches that cap on its own.
Can my score go down?
Yes. Factor 6 applies deductions of up to -200 for ties to another province: -100 for work experience elsewhere in Canada and -100 for studies elsewhere.
How is language scored?
Per ability band rather than once overall. CLB 8 or higher earns 25 points in each of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and a second official language at CLB 5+ adds a further 25.
