The study plan that survives a purpose-of-visit refusal

A study plan is not a personal essay. The officer is applying a narrow test: is this a genuine temporary student whose choice of programme, country and timing makes economic sense, and who has a reason to leave when the study ends. Write to that test.

The four questions to answer on the page

1. Why this programme. Tie it to the client's existing education and work, and name what it adds that a local option does not. Vague "quality of education abroad" language reads as a template.
2. Why now. A gap since the last studies, a career change, or a jump in study level all need a plain-language reason. Do not leave the officer to guess.
3. How it is funded. State the total first-year cost, the specific source of funds, and the relationship of the payer to the client. Match every number to the financial evidence exactly.
4. What happens after. Point to a concrete post-study position, sector or family situation in the home country. Aspirations to stay permanently belong in a later application, not this one.

Match the file to the plan

The plan is only as strong as the evidence behind each claim. If it says the family business will fund the studies, the bank statements and the business registration have to show it. If it names a return role, a letter from the employer helps. An officer who finds one unsupported claim tends to disbelieve the rest.

When there is already a refusal

Order the GCMS notes before you redraft anything. The refusal letter's checkboxes are not the reasoning; the notes are. Rebut the specific concern the officer recorded — not a generic version of it — and address any new weakness that has appeared since the first application (funds that have moved, a programme deferral, an expired language test).
